Torikichi
A moment to unwind in the city.
Asakusa yakitori restaurant Torikichi serves skewers by the piece alongside dishes such as a yakitori rice bowl, fried chicken and Japanese omelette. From lunch to dinner, you can choose what to eat and how much to order.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Whether you fancy a few yakitori skewers in the evening or a rice bowl for lunch, Torikichi in Asakusa offers both. One diner wrote that the yakitori rice bowl arrived with the skewers still on them, so they could be eaten as they were or taken off; the skewers were reportedly grilled after the order was placed. It may appeal if you want a lunch centred on freshly grilled skewers. Another lunchtime visitor noted that the bowl came with a small side of pickles. There is a lunch menu, and the restaurant is open from 11:00 to 14:00 for lunch. One visitor also reported having drinks at lunchtime, so you can choose between a filling bowl or skewers with a drink.
In the evening, diners have reported being able to order skewers individually and choose salt or sauce. The menu includes negima (chicken and leek), gizzard, liver and tsukune (chicken meatballs), as well as quail-egg and vegetable skewers. There is room to try a few favourite cuts one by one or opt for an assortment or a set of 4 or 7 skewers. Some visitors have singled out the sauce on the tsukune and pork skewers; another remembered how the chicken-skin skewer was cooked. Ordering by the piece lets you put together a selection of seasonings and cuts to suit your taste.
Beyond the skewers, the menu includes fried chicken, Japanese omelette, yakisoba and grilled fish. One diner described the yakisoba sauce as distinctly sweet and savoury, making it an option when you want a substantial dish rather than just a small bite. Drinks include draft beer, Hoppy and sake. You could pair skewers with a drink, or finish a meal with a yakitori rice bowl or ochazuke (rice with tea or broth), during the restaurant’s lunch hours of 11:00 to 14:00 and evening hours of 16:00 to 23:00.
